
Zona provided MP services for the $20 million renovation of El Rio Community Health Clinic's 91,583-square-foot Stone Avenue facility. The project renovated the clinic to include primary care, dental services, radiology, laboratory services, and an indoor and drive-thru pharmacy. Specialized HVAC, plumbing, and healthcare-focused building systems were designed to support patient safety, infection control, energy efficiency, and long-term operational performance.

Zona provided MEP and fire protection engineering services for the renovation of The Treasury 1929, a historic downtown Tucson bank transformed into a premier wedding and event venue. The project modernized the building's mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and life safety systems while preserving its historic character including the original bank vaults. Improvements included HVAC upgrades, new electrical distribution and lighting, plumbing enhancements, and a redesigned basement sump pump system to support the building's long-term performance.

Zona provided MEP engineering services for the Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management (DFFM) Wildfire Dispatch Center. This state-of-the-art emergency operations facility serves as a centralized hub for wildfire detection, monitoring, and coordination, supporting communication among local, state, and federal agencies. Designed using permanent modular construction to accelerate project delivery, the facility strengthens Arizona's ability to respond quickly and effectively to wildfire emergencies while protecting communities and natural resources.

Zona provided mechanical, plumbing, and fire protection (MEP) engineering services for Bugen Hall, the first on-campus student housing facility at Cochise College. The new 7,500-square-foot, two-story residence hall includes 23 student suites, study areas, common spaces, and support facilities designed to enhance the student living experience. Zona delivered coordinated building systems that provide occupant comfort, energy efficiency, and long-term reliability, creating a modern residential environment that supports student success and campus life.

Zona provided engineering services for the Pinal County Animal Care and Control Center in Casa Grande, Arizona. The project included the design of kennel buildings, administrative offices, and a veterinary surgery suite, with specialized HVAC, plumbing, and drainage systems that promote animal health, sanitation, and operational efficiency. The facility was designed to create a safe, comfortable, and functional environment for animals, staff, and visitors.

Zona provided MEP engineering services for the renovation and expansion of Mister Car Wash on Speedway Boulevard in Tucson. The project modernized customer spaces, expanded vehicle wash operations, and added 20 vacuum stations while incorporating upgraded HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and water treatment systems. The result is a more efficient, sustainable, and customer-focused facility designed for long-term performance.

Zona provided MEP engineering services for Cochise College's 12,300-square-foot First Responders Academy Firearms Training Complex. The facility features a 20-lane indoor firing range, specialized training spaces, and advanced HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection systems designed to support occupant safety, indoor air quality, and reliable year-round operation. As the only facility of its kind in rural Arizona, it provides a modern training environment for regional law enforcement professionals while supporting workforce development throughout the region.

Zona provided the mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection design for this multi-phased project. The University of Arizona Global Center, Phase 2 project involved heavy renovation of 10,000 sq. ft. of existing administrative offices, meeting spaces, food service areas, common areas, and office space. The renovation included new conference rooms, team rooms and computer labs.

In one of the world’s most remote locations, Indian Health Service (IHS) is improving access to care and delivering a state-of-the-art health care facility at the bottom of the Grand Canyon. The 12,700-square-foot facility replaces a 2,200-square-foot clinic constructed in 1972 and provides space for primary care, dental, pharmacy and medication dispensing, lab, and radiology services.

Zona provided MEP and fire protection engineering services for The Homing Project, a nonprofit housing community serving unhoused individuals. The development includes short-term sleeping units and shared support facilities such as hygiene, laundry, kitchen, library, office, and dining spaces. Coordinated building systems were designed to provide reliable, safe, and comfortable environments that support the organization's mission of helping residents transition toward long-term housing and stability.

Zona provided the following MEP professional services: Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing Design; and Construction Administration. We worked and coordinated closely with the owner, tenant, and architect to make this a successful project. The scope of work was to renovate approximately 12,959 sq. ft. of shell space in the 9052 building at the University of Arizona Tech Park for Eurofins CellTx; which is designed to provide critical testing support for cell and gene therapy-based products. The renovation included 75% analytical lab space and 25% warehouse and office support spaces.

This project in downtown Tucson involved a renovation of an existing 2,300 sq. ft. space for the City of Tucson Court. This renovation created a Juror Selection Room for the court to use in daily activities.

Tesla sells and services their electric vehicles at this new location in northwest Tucson. The project
included sales/showroom, delivery/detailing, sales & service offices, customer facing restrooms, customer lounge and restrooms, customer drop-off, employee service break area/lockers/restrooms, service area, parts/battery storage and car wash bay.

We provided full MEP services to these three dining locations at Loews Ventana Canyon Resort in Tucson, Arizona. Canyon Club Cafe's casual spot serves modern American cuisine with Southwestern soul and heart-healthy options that are anything but boring. The Vista Barista Coffee Shop features For Five Coffee drinks, specialty teas, power smoothies, and yogurt parfaits, plus fruits, delicious breakfast pastries, and bagels. Bill's Grill is a poolside retreat featuring food and drink for those guests visiting the resort pool.

nVent is a manufacturer of linear motion slides and power distribution products for the IT, Data Center, and Consumer Appliance sectors. This TI project included 31,730 square feet to accommodate administrative offices and a new production facility. The new headquarters will include an expansion of 100 jobs, primarily in production, quality control, operations management, and engineering.

The High Bay Balloon Mission Integration Lab is located at the UA Tech Park at The Bridges where researchers and students can work on instruments, telescopes, and high-altitude balloon technology to build and test hardware for experiments and missions designed to fly at extremely high altitudes. The Mission Integration Lab, a tall, hangar-like “high bay,” serves as a test bed for new technology enabling researchers to be able to prepare and test stratospheric balloon payloads.

Remodel of existing 5,900 sq. ft. of laboratory space to cleanroom space on the 10th floor of the Gould-Simpson Building at the University of Arizona. The remodel scope of work required modifying several existing laboratory areas to conference and office spaces.

This project included the renovation and reconfiguration of the existing, single story 14,000 sq. ft. clinic and a two-story, 18,000 sq. ft. addition. The facility incorporates integrated care modules for pediatrics and family medicine, OBGYN, Dental, and Behavioral Health. The project contains specialty spaces such as radiology, pharmacy, laboratory, and community programs, including a large multi-purpose room on the second floor with magnificent views of the Catalina Mountains to the north.

The new stadium, with concession area, press box, stadium restrooms, retail, offices, and ticket booths, is a state-of-the-art facility positioning the stadium as one of the best Softball stadiums in the country. Some highlights of the new structure include a shade structure that covers the majority of seats, upgraded restrooms and concessions, and enlarged visiting and home dugouts.

The Zona Team provided medium voltage electrical construction design documents and construction administration for this project where Steward Observatory required utility power for their new building at the University of Arizona Science Tech Park Campus. The Tech Park maintains and owns their medium voltage gear and requested that the firm provide design services to engineer the modification of their existing medium voltage (12,470V) system. The design included a new liquid filled 12,470V to 480V transformer, two switching cabinets to ensure the existing redundant medium voltage feeds switch properly and medium voltage cable.
