Zona Employee Cory Holmes Receives Scholarship
Cory Holmes received the Stan Adams Scholarship last month from the ASHRAE Tucson Chapter. This scholarship will support Cory’s education in his last semester; he is expected to graduate in May of this year. Dave Tyrrell, co-owner of Zona Technical Engineering said, “This is a very special award to me as I started my A/E/C career with Stan Adams in 2002, and I think Cory is a great recipient for this scholarship.”

Zona Wins 2022 Cornerstone Award!
Zona is Proud to Have Been Named 2022 Design Consultant of the Year!
Zona Technical Engineering was the honored recipient of the Design Consultant of the Year Award at the 2022 Cornerstone Building Foundation Awards Banquet. This prestigious award celebrates workmanship, skill, responsibility, and integrity in the building development industry.
We attended the event and were among the greatest, hardest working, and brightest of Southern Arizona’s A/E/C industry. Congratulations to all the nominees and winners of this year’s event! We couldn’t have won this award without the dedication of our talented staff, our amazing industry design and construction partners, and the great owners that allow us to design such amazing spaces. We are incredibly honored and look forward to many more years of service within our community!

Rain Bird's New Building is Underway

Penny's 35 Year Anniversary
Penny Gloff Celebrates 35 Years in the A/E/C Industry
Zona employees celebrated Penny’s 35th anniversary in the A/E/C industry recently with a trip to Round 1 for a few games of bowling!
Penny started her career with Adams in 1987 hand drafting redlines from Stan Adams of Adams and Associates Engineers. Penny’s “can do” attitude showed commitment, devotion, and dedication for 35 years and she now leads mechanical designs. She adds value to the team by keeping the client in mind the entire time she is designing mechanical systems.

Dave's 20 Year Anniversary
Dave Tyrrell Celebrates 20 Years in the A/E/C Industry
Zona employees and their families came together recently to celebrate Dave Tyrrell’s 20-year anniversary in the A/E/C industry.
Dave started working with Stan Adams at Adams and Associates, Inc. in 2002. He worked his way up to Principal and Co-Owner of Adams and Associates Engineers, PLLC in 2011 when Stan retired and sold the firm. Dave formed a new company, Zona Technical Engineering, with partner Alec Zimmermann in 2022. Dave is now the Principal Mechanical Engineer for Zona.

Announcing Zona!
Dave Tyrrell and Alec Zimmermann have partnered together and are delighted to announce the grand opening of Zona Technical Engineering. Zona is a full-service consulting engineering firm that provides in-depth design for Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) building systems. The firm has an extensive amount of experience in several different industries including medical, educational, government, and commercial for both new construction and renovations.
Dave was the co-owner and Principal of Adams and Associates Engineers. He brings twenty years of experience to his new role as the Principal Mechanical Engineer. His expertise includes designing HVAC and plumbing systems, and he is an expert in HVAC system selection and central system design.
Alec was formerly the Senior Electrical Engineer at Adams and Associates Engineers. Alec’s new role with Zona is as the Principal Electrical Engineer. His almost ten years of expertise includes extensive design experience in healthcare facilities, medical office buildings, commercial offices, and laboratory facilities.
Dave, Alec, and the Tucson based staff have completed thousands of projects across the southwest and have extensive knowledge of the local climate conditions, codes, and requirements in Arizona, California, Nevada, New Mexico, and Texas.
