Zona provided the full Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and Fire Protection services for the Firearms Training Complex (FTC Firing Range) within Cochise Community College. Working in Revit 2022, Zona supported the project from schematic design through construction administration, delivering a highly coordinated facility designed to meet the demanding requirements of law enforcement and public safety training.
The approximately 12,300-square-foot facility features a 20-lane indoor firing range, firearms cleaning areas, classrooms and support spaces, a lobby, break room, locker facilities, and restrooms. As the only indoor firearms training facility of its kind in rural Arizona, the complex provides a dedicated environment for the education, certification, and continuing training of regional law enforcement professionals, helping Cochise College expand workforce development opportunities while reducing the need for off-site training.
Because indoor firing ranges require highly specialized environmental systems, the project demanded careful coordination among all engineering disciplines. Zona designed advanced HVAC systems to maintain proper airflow, pressure relationships, and indoor air quality for occupant safety and regulatory compliance. Mechanical systems were coordinated with the electrical, lighting, plumbing, and fire protection systems to create a safe, reliable, and efficient training environment capable of supporting year-round operation. The project also included dedicated power distribution, energy-efficient LED lighting, plumbing systems, and life safety infrastructure integrated throughout the facility.
Zona provided full MEP services for Schematic Design, Design Development, Construction Documents, Permitting Services, and Construction Administration phases from Revit 2022.
