University of Arizona Tech Park Steward Observatory

The Team provided medium voltage electrical construction design documents and construction administration for this project where Steward Observatory required utility power for their new building at the University of Arizona Science Tech Park Campus.  The Tech Park maintains and owns their medium voltage gear and requested that the firm provide design services to engineer the modification of their existing medium voltage (12,470V) system.  The design included a new liquid filled 12,470V to 480V transformer, two switching cabinets to ensure the existing redundant medium voltage feeds switch properly and medium voltage cable.

This project is an example of designing a medium voltage system while subcontracting the civil engineering services.  The team lead the project as the prime consultant from cradle to grave and completed all phases with satisfactory accolades from the owner.
