Zona provided complete MEP engineering services for the renovation and expansion of the Mister Car Wash facility on Speedway Boulevard in Tucson, Arizona. The project expanded the existing facility to approximately 3,600 square feet while modernizing the office, lobby, customer waiting area, restrooms, and vehicle wash operations to improve both customer experience and operational efficiency.
The renovation included upgrades to the car wash systems and site layout to improve vehicle circulation and accommodate increased customer demand. The project also added 20 vacuum stations, enhancing post-wash services and expanding the facility's customer amenities.
Mechanical and plumbing engineering services included rooftop HVAC systems, ventilation for restrooms and employee support spaces, upgraded plumbing infrastructure, and the integration of reverse osmosis and water-softening systems to improve wash quality, reduce equipment maintenance, and support water conservation.
Electrical engineering services included upgrading the existing electrical service and low-voltage power distribution for site and facility. Older motor control systems were replaced with a modern, integrated motor control center for car wash operations. The design also specified energy-efficient lighting, using photometric evaluation, energy conservation, and dark sky considerations to provide the most optimal lighting and controls for the facility. Final delivery was in the form of construction plans, electrical one-line diagrams, load calculations, and panel schedules.
Zona prepared construction documents in AutoCAD and provided construction administration services. In addition, Zona managed all project stakeholders from start to finish, from the utility, city, contractor, and owner.
