Pinal County Animal Care & Control Center

This Pinal County Animal Care & Control Center facility was designed to support the health, safety, and well-being of animals while creating a functional and efficient environment for veterinary staff, shelter personnel, volunteers, and visitors. This included design for the kennel buildings, administration area, and a surgery suite. In particular, the kennel drainage and plumbing systems were redesigned to reduce clogging and improve sanitary kennel maintenance for both animals and visitors. Extra temperature and humidity modifications were also made to the surgery suite in accordance with ASHRAE guidelines.

The design work also featured rooftop air packaged conditioning units, air distribution systems, plumbing utilities, an HVAC split system, and insulation ductwork and piping. This improved indoor air quality to help reduce odors and airborne contaminants.

By creating a comfortable, hygienic, and well-ventilated environment, the engineering design helps reduce stress on animals, supports infection control, improves indoor air quality, and enhances daily operations for staff caring for the shelter's animals. The result is a facility designed to promote animal welfare while providing dependable, efficient building systems that support the County's mission of protecting and caring for the community's pets.

Zona created the Design Development and Construction Documents through Revit 2020, as well as complete Construction Administration.
