Zona provided complete mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) engineering design services for the Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management (DFFM) Wildfire Dispatch Center. This state-of-the-art communications facility serves as a centralized coordination hub for wildfire detection, monitoring, and emergency response throughout Arizona, enhancing collaboration among local, state, and federal agencies during wildfire incidents.
The dispatch center supports advanced wildfire detection technology and real-time communication systems, enabling emergency personnel to coordinate intelligence, aircraft, ground crews, and public communications from a single location. As one of seven facilities in the nation utilizing this innovative technology, the center strengthens Arizona's ability to respond quickly and effectively to wildfires while improving public safety and resource management.
The facility was designed using permanent modular construction, allowing the building to be fabricated off-site while site improvements were completed concurrently. This accelerated delivery approach significantly reduced the overall construction schedule, enabling the State to occupy and utilize the facility months earlier than would have been possible using traditional construction methods. Zona worked closely with the project team to coordinate building systems across the prefabricated modules, ensuring seamless integration and reliable long-term performance.
The successful completion of the project was recognized during a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by Arizona Governor Katie Hobbs, celebrating a facility that will play a vital role in protecting Arizona's communities, natural resources, and first responders for years to come.
