Zona Technical Engineering provided full MEP engineering services for The Homing Project, a Tucson nonprofit dedicated to providing safe, sustainable housing and support services for unhoused individuals. The project was designed to create a welcoming community where residents have access to essential resources while working toward long-term stability and independence.
The development consists of a village of 19 residential and support buildings, including sleeping units, hygiene facilities, administrative offices, laundry facilities, a community kitchen, library, music room, gatehouse, and shared gathering spaces, including a dining pavilion. Zona designed the building systems to support the unique operational needs of the campus while creating a safe, reliable, and comfortable environment for residents and staff.
Electrical engineering services included power distribution, site utilities, exterior lighting, and electrical systems serving each residential and support building. Mechanical and plumbing systems were coordinated throughout the development, including HVAC systems, domestic water, sanitary plumbing, and fire protection systems, providing dependable infrastructure that supports year-round operation and occupant comfort.
Zona prepared construction documents with Revit 2022 and provided construction administration services, working closely with the project team to successfully deliver a thoughtfully engineered facility that reflects the organization's mission of providing dignity, safety, and opportunity to members of the Tucson community.
